Ways we use Peppermint Oil:

Health:

Peppermint Oil is such a versatile oil – it has both soothing and uplifting effects.  You can use it to calm your stomach and lift your spirits and it is truly the best way to wake up in the morning – it beats coffee any time! Here are a few suggestions for how to use Peppermint Oil to improve your lifestyle:

Headache Relief

  • Use a blend of Peppermint Oil and Lavender Oil, applied at your temples and behind your ears to alleviate a headache. I also like to apply this blend under my eyes. However, be careful not to apply too close to your eyes.

Gut Health

  • Make peppermint tea to calm your stomach. It is as easy as adding a drop of Peppermint Oil to some almost boiling water. The aroma from the cup will clear you nose and the drink itself will help settle your stomach.
  • Add a few drops of Peppermint Oil to an empty capsule and take with a glass of water. I use this with a blend of other oils to improve my gut health. I blend Peppermint Oil with Oregano Oil , Thyme Oil and Lavender Oil. Blending Oregano Oil with Peppermint Oil is effective as they work together synergistically. This blend is useful after big events such as Christmas where we may over indulge!

Fresh Breath

  • Add a drop of Peppermint Oil to your toothpaste or add a drop to a glass of water and use as a mouth wash after teeth cleaning.

Your wake-up routine

  • Prepare a Roller Ball Bottle by diluting 15-20 drops of Peppermint Oil with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Roll this under your eyes and on your temples as you wake up each morning.
  • Use Peppermint Oil in your diffuser blends to help get you going each day. This oil blends well with Citrus Oils for a bright start to the day.

Cooling Effect

  • On a hot day you can use your Peppermint Oil to help cool down. I keep an old doTERRA Peppermint Oil Bottle with a spray nozzle in my handbag at all times. This bottle contains a few drops of oil and some water. I shake the mixture and spray around my neck and chest to cool down.

Household Uses:

Cleaning

  • We add Peppermint Oil to our foaming handwash recipe together with a protective blend for an invigorating mix!
  • We use Peppermint Oil to freshen up the bathroom by adding a few drops onto the centre of the toilet paper roll. You can also add a drop into the toilet as you clean it.
  • I add a few drops of Peppermint Oil to the cleaning pad of my Steam Mop. As I clean the floor the wonderful uplifting aroma of Peppermint fills my house. I sometimes mix Peppermint Oil and Clove Oil for an interesting change.

Garden and Outdoor Uses

  • Add Peppermint Oil to your bug spray to help deter bugs in your garden
  • Add Peppermint Oil to vinegar and water for a helpful (but safe) weed killer.
  • Use Peppermint Oil to help deter bigger pests such as mice or rats. I add around 30-40 drops of Peppermint Oil to a 200 ml spray bottle and fill with water. Shake well and spray around BBQ areas to deter any unwanted visitors!

Cooking

Of course, Peppermint Oil is a wonderful addition to chocolate, desserts, cakes, icing and milky drinks. Try experimenting with ice cream recipes by adding 1-2 drops of Peppermint Oil.
