We have been using Essential Oils in our household for the past two years and we would love to help you discover their value too – for your health, for cleaning, for beauty and for your sheer enjoyment!
There are so many oils that you could use but it can be quite confusing when you are first starting out. What we found is that you don’t have to purchase a wide range of oils to improve your lifestyle. We have a large collection ourselves, but actually come back again and again to a relatively small number of oils to solve many simple household problems. But we could only do this once we had an understanding of their properties and the similarities and differences of the various oils.
How did we do this? We were both scientists and we still like to do our research. So when we consider our oils we like to find out about the main constituents and their known uses and then find uses for them for health, beauty and cleaning purposes etc. We almost always find that even if an expensive oil is recommended to solve a problem that there will also be a substitute that we can use. Happily, many of those substitute oils are not hugely expensive and are easy to buy. We are not saying that we don’t like to experiment with various oils, because we do, but there are a few oils that are so versatile that we know we can rely on them e.g. when we are on holidays or even just out for the day. Gillian keeps a ‘go to’ mix of oils in her bag at all times and we know that we will have the solution for a range of needs during the day e.g. a headache, blocked nose, a freshen up, a cold sore, a cut or scrape or the first signs of a cold.
For these reasons we decided to share the benefits of our research with you, oil by oil, so you can make some informed choices about the right oils to purchase and take with you as you work and play!
