Apple Crumble – one of those old fashioned, warming desserts for a cold winter’s evening! Does it bring back any memories for you? It has become the go to dessert in my house – particularly for hungry sons. In fact it became their dish i.e. I’m not allowed to make it because I don’t do it to their standard of perfection. But that’s Ok with me. I am happy to abdicate my dessert cooking role any time!
But I have recently been experimenting with Essential Oils in cooking and used Cardamom and Cinnamon Essential Oils in an old recipe from Mum’s Recipe Book and I thought I would share it with you. They add an extra dimension to the old favourite!
What You Will Need:
1 large tin of pie apple
3 tablespoons of butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons of Self Raising Flour
1 Drop of Cardamom Essential Oil
1 Drop of Cinnamon Essential Oil
1 drop of Lemon Essential Oil
A well oiled deep pie dish
Method:
Heat oven to 190 C.
Place the apple into the dish.
Mix the oils into the apple.
Rub the butter, sugar and flour together. It should resemble breadcrumbs when mixed together.
Sprinkle over the apple.
Bake in the oven for approximately 20 -25 minutes.
Serve warm with cream or ice cream (or both!)
Enjoy!
