I just found this old recipe in my Mum’s old cookbook and decided that it was time to bring it up to date so I could make it in the TM6. It has always been a favourite but now, with the TM6 I can make it so quickly and I also save on the mess. The TM6 has a Preclean setting that makes the clean up very easy. I have an old TM31 Thermomix as well and I used it to cook the rice at the same time. A total nourishing meal in less than half and hour. What more can I say?

Thermomix Chill Con Carne
This is an easy recipe to whip up in your Thermomix® TM6®.
Equipment
- Thermomix® TM6®
- Simmering basket
- Measuring Cup
- Spatula
Ingredients
- 500g lean beef mince
- 1 medium size onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 5-6 chilli
- pinch each of salt and black pepper
- 20 g olive oil
- 1 handful green vegetables such as zucchini, sliver beet, kale (optional)
- 1 bottle of passata
- 300g water
- 1 tin red kidney beans
- garnish with basil and feta cheese
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients ready to get cooking!
- Make sure your Thermomix is turned on and ready to go.
- Peel the onion and garlic. Remove the stalks from the chilli. Chop any green vegetables.
- Add the onion, garlic, chilli and green vegies to the bowl.
- Insert the measuring cup into the lid and chop the ingredients 3 sec/speed 7.
- Weigh in 20g olive oil and sauté 3.5 minutes/120°C/speed 1.
- Add the passata + 300g water to the bowl.
- Place the simmering basket into the bowl and add the mince to the basket.
- Place the lid + measuring cup on top of the bowl. Cook 10 minutes/100°C/speed 2.5.
- Remove the lid and stir the mince in the basket using the spatula.
- Place the lid + measuring cup on top of the bowl. Cook 10 minutes/100°C/speed 2.5.
- While the mince is cooking open the tin of kidney beans and rinse well.
- After the second 10 minute cooking time remove the lid and the basket. Transfer the mince into the bowl and add in the kidney beans.
- Mix the ingredients 1 minute/speed 2 with reverse enabled.
- Pour the chilli into a serving dish and garnish as required. Serve hot with boiled rice.
