We posted about a hand sanitiser product that we make last year but given the recent virus outbreak we thought it was a good time to update it and remind you that you can make your own sanitiser. We are all being encouraged to wash our hands properly, not to shake hands and not to kiss people. Health experts are advising that a sanitiser must contain at least 60% alcohol to be effective against the virus.
However, chemists and supermarkets are all out of sanitisers.
So you can make your own. It’s not a perfect solution but I know that we all want to do what we can to keep our family safe!
Remember, washing your hands with soap and water is best but if you can’t buy sanitiser and want something to use when you are out of the house then try making your own.
Read on and stay healthy!
* Before I go on I just want to let you know that I have added some links to my doTERRA webpage throughout this post so you can check out any of the oils I mention.
What you will need to make 100 ml:
75 ml Isopropyl Alcohol (also known as rubbing alcohol)
1.5 ml Vegetable Glycerin
Cooled, boiled water to make up to 100 ml
Method:
Mix all ingredients together in a clean bowl or jug.
Pour into bottles to be pumped or sprayed. This is a very liquid mix so I think spray is better.
I use old doTERRA bottles that still have a few drops of oil in them i.e. you can use Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lemon etc.
Note: You can buy Isopropyl alcohol online. It is used in the nail care industry and in the glass industry. You may also be able to buy it at the hardware. Vegetable Glycerin is also available online.
